Rick Alvarez is a board-certified trial lawyer and graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School and the Fisher School of Accounting at the University of Florida. He began his practice in Miami during the middle 1990’s under the guidance of two past presidents of The Florida Bar, Gerald Richman and Herman Russomanno. In 2000, Mr. Alvarez returned home to Tampa and continued his litigation practice with Steve Yerrid and then at his own firm, Alvarez Garcia. In 2015, Mr. Alvarez joined Older Lundy Alvarez & Koch to establish the firm’s civil litigation department.
Over his years as a trial lawyer, Mr. Alvarez has developed particular skill and interest in cases involving unique issues, such as those associated with wrongful deaths, defective products, premises liability, federal civil rights, complex commercial disputes, shareholders’ derivative actions, unfair trade practices, computer spying, and the First Amendment. His practice is conducted before the state and federal courts throughout Florida.
After serving several years on the Board of Metropolitan Ministries, Rick recently “returned home” to serve on the Board of the Boys and Girls’ Clubs of Tampa Bay. As a former member of the historic West Tampa Boys’ Club, Rick oversees the “alumni committee” of the Board. In 2018, he joined fellow alumni of Tampa’s Leto High School to establish a bar association, which promotes curriculum and potential careers in the law.
